I think this image based on the work of Lee Friedlander is my most successful image because it shows the reflection of myself in the window, along with what is both inside and outside of the window, as his original photo does. I think this photo is interesting to look at because of its complexity, as there is much to look at and it may take some time for the viewer to understand the photo, having to organize what they believe is outside versus inside. I think I was successful in capturing my reflection as the subject, but also showing the details of what is behind and in front of the window, just as Lee Friedlander does. What I tried to do differently is focus my image more on the background, as my reflection is not as prominent as Lee's is.

The most challenging aspect of this challenge was creating an image that embodies the work of the photographer in my own way. I had to be more creative with different angles and lighting to produce something similar, but not fully the same.

In the future to create stronger images, I plan to continue taking what I have learned in class and pay further attention to different compositions and lighting techniques that showcase the detail of the photo more successfully.

Comment on another student's post:

"Hi Jill! I think your photo came out great and it shows much similarity to the work of Georgia O'Keeffe. I like how you decided to choose a different contrast of color than the original artist's photo, making it your own but basing it off of the artist's work. They are both very aesthetically pleasing photos, capturing the details of the flower, so I think you picked a great photo as your best. From simply looking at the photos not knowing who took it, they could both be from the same photographer, so you did a great job at following the photographic technique and style as Georgia's work."

Hi Alexandra! You emulated this perfectly, I really enjoy how inspired and well executed these photos are. I feel like you nailed the shadows, the aspect of the photos, and how detailed you were able to keep these photos. What stands out the most to me is the contrast and saturation in each photo and how well you were able to keep the photos so diverse and similar to Lee Friedlander.
