Part 1:
The aspects of Lauren Greenfield's work that I find most useful to inspire my future photographic work is the authenticity of her photos. I think her attention to detail within her photos allows her to create successful images because she makes sure to capture everything in a given moment. Her photos have central subject points, but there are other aspects around the image that provide significance. I think the lighting of her photographs is important because it adds a certain feeling that portrays the meaning even further, which is something I will continue to pay attention to with my own photos.
Part 2:
On another student's blog, I commented, "Hi Gillian! I really like how you showcased Joel's variety as a photographer. I think your information about critiquing photography for each photograph is accurate and your explanations about the composition and lighting make the viewers further appreciate the image. I especially like how you explained the photo taken from the car, as it looks like a simple image, but there are many more complex aspects to it. The photographs you chose to talk about show the type of photography Joel is interested in, as he focuses in explanatory photography, but also captures aesthetically and ethically evaluative images that show his success in the field."

I think you did a fantastic job at showcasing Greenfield's work. I thought the way you evaluated and interpreted the images using the photographic categories discussed in class made the presentation informative and easier to comprehend the artist's work. Greenfield's work feels very honest and real about a variety of subject matter that we as humans face. I would agree with you that her authenticity showcased in her photographs is admirable, and is something I would like to apply to my future photographic endeavors.
